Cake Slice Card

This card was a quick make for my boyfriend's sister back in August. The image from Delicious Doodles was coloured with ProMarkers and the balloons covered in Glossy Accents. I don't really do well with white space but wanted to cut the lettering out on my Craft Robo and they would have been lost if i'd put them on a different background. I'm pleased with the finished look as it makes the cake pop.

Betty Boop Inspired Card

My Dad's partner asked me to make a card for her (buxom!) best friend who loves Betty Boop. I've seen this Kenny K image used on other blogs and thought it would be ideal so have coloured it to look like the friend. I've used a Cover-a-Card stamps to create the background then scored diagonally to make a luxurious quilt effect. The flowers are handmade using alternating layers of coloured cardstock cut with the Tattered Florals die from Tim Holtz and then sprayed with water before scrunching. The card candy, lace and pearl brads were all coloured with ProMarkers to match.

Fairy Stepper Card

My Mum's birthday was on the 1st August and I knew immediately that I wanted to use this image so coloured it in to match the paper, then had a complete lack of inspriation on how to construct the card! I wanted to try something completely new so decided to use a side stepper card, which perfectly displays the different layers i've cut out on my Craft Robo. Apparently the colours didn't match very well but i'm pleased with it...




Sorry I used a whole load of colours on this image and can't remember them all...

LOTV Colouring Masterclass

Last Saturday I was lucky enough to attend the Lili of the Valley Colouring Masterclass for ProMarkers/Copics with Bev Rochester and Jacqui Dennis. It was a great day - I learnt lots of new techniques to use with my ProMarkers and made some lovely new friends too. I also won 8 LOTV stamps in a raffle which they suprised us with! If i'm honest I was a bit scared of their stamps before as they're quite small and detailed but now I own loads :-)

From the class i've realised the card you use actually makes a huge difference and from now on i'll be using the Super Smooth card from Lili of the Valley/Craftwork Cards. Also Prismacolor pencils are magic and really make your image pop so i'm going to start playing with mine more. The main thing I learnt from the day though is to always colour dark to light as this means you keep your highlight.

Anyway here's the images we coloured during the day. We started off with a cute wintery James Bear, which i've now purchase to use on my Christmas cards lol. We practiced blending dark to light on his fur (Terracotta, Apricot, Saffron, Vanilla) and then used Prismacolor pencils to add depth.



Next up was this little boy with his sailing boat. We used this image to practice colouring skin (Apricot, Saffron, Ivory, Pastel Pink) and hair (Terracotta, Saffron, Vanilla). They also showed us how adding a touch of Putty and Almond to the sail adds a bit of dimension rather than leaving it plain white.



After lunch we coloured Love Grows which was quite tricky as there's lots of small areas and detail. To help simplify it though we stuck to only using a few colours (i.e. brown, red and green). We had the opportunity to turn this image into a card or colour another image, which is what I chose to do and then made the card at home last night instead.





Lastly I coloured the gorgeous Rosie Posy which required using the blender to fade the colours to white. Again i've used Prismacolor pencils to add depth. We were shown how to add rosy cheeks to our characters without making them look like clowns by adding small triangles of pink in line with the top of their ears.



I'm soo proud of how all these images have turned out and can't wait to start colouring some of my uninked stamps...

Simply Sassy DT Card

As the title suggests this card was made for the Simply Sassy DT call, which actually ended on 29th January. When I came to enter my card though I realised I was too late and it had already closed :-( I was gutted so didn't bother posting my card and have only just got round to it. Anyway these stamps are stunning and an absolute pleasure to colour - I only own three but love them, especially their eyes! This card is very on trend with the bunting and rosette...

All I Want For Christmas Card

I've been a bit behind posting photos of the Christmas cards I made but this is the last one I promise! This was for my boyfriend Martin who loves my handmade cards so I always try to make each one better than the last. I spent ages colouring the image with my ProMarkers and am so pleased with how it turned out, though the shading hasn't photographed very well...

Piece Of Quiet Card

My Mum is a really awkward person to buy presents for and whenever we ask her what she wants her answer is always "just give me some peace and quiet". I spotted this Penny Black image used on someone else's blog and thought it would be perfect to use on a tongue-in-cheek birthday card for her. The card was well received and made her laugh...

Commissioned Wedding Card

I was asked to make this card by a lovely women at work for her nephew's wedding. The sweet image i've used is from the new Tilda Wedding collection and the stunning mulberry paper roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts. I spritzed almost everything with Glimmer Mist to create a gorgeous shimmery, pearlised finish and made a pretty matching box for it to be given in.

Black & Red Skater Card

I've been asked to make a card for someone's nephew who's turning 13. Apparently he's into skateboarding, BMX, X-Box, Green Day, iPod and Facebook. She also requested that the colour scheme is black and red to match his room. I had the perfect background in mind but it was in shades of blue so a bit of editing in PhotoShop and voila! The image is from Bird's Cards.

MSE Music Challenge Card

The challenge this fortnight on MSE is to make a card with a musical theme. This is my entry using my new Sugar Nellie Rock Idol stamp which is fab. The backing paper was perfect so all i've added is thread for the guitar strings and completed the greeting with peel offs. I've distressed all the edges as i'm really loving this effect at the moment and it's especially perfect for male cards.

Doodled Thinking of You Card

Now I know this card has been received by the lovely Rusty I can post it! She's been in a lot of pain recently and ended up in hospital last week, so I wanted to send her something to hopefully cheer her up a little bit. I've used a gorgeous Mo Manning stamp and Basic Grey paper but because it's quite busy couldn't decide what embellishments to use so went doodle crazy instead...

MSE 3 B's Challenge Card

The current challenge over on MSE is to make a card with three things beginning with "B" on. This is my entry, which is a birthday card using a cute black haired tilda dressed in blue from the new fairytale range. The backing paper is from Basic Grey and is matted on to pearlescent blue card. I've used black card candy and the sheer ribbon bow has been coloured black to match.

18th Birthday Football Card

It's my six foot something "little" brothers 18th birthday on Friday, so i've made him this card as he's football mad. I got to play with Martin's Mum's Craft Robo at the weekend and i'm in love - it's soo amazing and the possibilities are endless! I cut out the pitch outline for this card, which would have taken ages by hand. I'll definitely be looking to buy myself one soon...

Poinsettia Stamped Candles

It was Martin's Mum's birthday yesterday and she absolutely loves candles and her favourite flowers are poinsettias. I decided to put together this arrangement after seeing this fab tutorial here for stamping on to candles. The candles/dish came from Tiger and the paper flowers from Hobby House. I've finished off with Anita's gold butterfly dimension stickers.

Valentine's Card

This is my Valentine's card for my boyfriend. As soon as I saw the Valentine Penny Black stamps I had to have them as they were so cute and I've put them to good use here! Martin has kept everything I've handmade him so far and treasures them (bless,) so I always try to make something a bit special and different. This card opens in an unusal way to reveal the message!

Girls, Girls, Girls Card

I've been lacking inspiration for the last two weeks so figured i'd enter the "girls, girls, girls" challenge over at Passion for ProMarkers. This is my entry - i've used K&Co paper, a Miss Anya coloured with ProMarkers (15 colours, mix of old and new) and 3D letters from 24Studio. I'll be saving this to give to one of my good friends for her birthday in March!

Anniversary Celebration Card

This card was supposed to be for Martin's Aunt's birthday but i've since decided that it looks more like an anniversary card! The backing is vellum and I never know how to stick it without the glue showing through so cut little slits in the corners to hold it down instead. The Forever Friends stamp was free with a magazine and i've coloured it with ProMarkers of course.

Swirly Girly Birthday Card

My first card in 2010 is for my friend's birthday. I've used my new Miss Anya Love stamps, which are absolutely gorgeous and I've got loads of ideas for. The backing paper is K&Co and i've hand-written the sentiment (scary!). Hopefully i'm going to start building up a collection of cards i've made ready for when I need them, but have too many birthdays this month...

Green Winter Flip-Flop Card

Again I first got introduced to flip-flop cards (aka swing cards) over on CraftyPlace. It was a bit fiddly working out the measurements and then cutting the central square but makes an awesome effect. This card is for my brother and on the flipped side has a die cut Merry Christmas in green mirri card. The cute stamped image is from the lovely Rusty.

Lilac Teddy Kisses Card

I had lots of fun playing with my ProMarkers to colour this free digital image I found online. It's really cute and because it's quite a big picture the card didn't really need much else apart from some matching pearlescent card and card candy (again coloured with ProMarkers). This card is co-ordinated to go with a purple themed present I'm doing!
